Meraz goes on a mission of mercy to Haiti  
   A Plainview woman recently embarked on a mission of compassion and mercy, traveling to the earthquake-destroyed country of Haiti in hopes of being able to help the people there with her nursing skill.
  What awaited her was a country in ruin and hundreds of sick, critically injured, mentally distraught and malnourished Haitian survivors suffering from every type of injury, from simple open wounds to gunshot wounds to crushed bones.

Youth

Nine FFA students complete proficiencies, five gold won
   On February 8, nine Plainview FFA Students completed and submitted 13 proficiency applications for the district review. 
    Mark Keck completed five applications and received two gold and three silvers, with one gold being a state qualifier and district winner. 
    Alisha Pellatz also earned a District champion award and qualified for the state review. 
    Other students who received top three district gold placing, and qualified for the state review included Nicole Sorensen, Trent Christiansen, Devon Eggerling, Emily Gubbels, and Teresa Pellatz. 
    In addition, Adam Schlote and Brent Demerath received Silver ratings on their first year applications at the district review. 
    This past weekend those State qualifying applications were reviewed in Kearney. Devon Eggerling received a Gold rating, Trent Christiansen, Alisha Pellatz, Mark Keck, Emily Gubbels, and Nicole Sorensen all received silver ratings, and Teresa Pellatz received a bronze rating at the state level.
